PROBLEMS WE SOLVE · WARPAGE

Your parts warp. Let’s find out why before the next correction loop.

The part comes off the press flat enough, then bends, twists or bows as it cools. Dimensions drift out of tolerance, assemblies don’t fit, and your customer starts asking questions. Changing the process on a hunch often moves the problem instead of fixing it.

Typical causes

  • Uneven cooling: one mold half or one area of the part runs hotter, so it shrinks later and pulls the part out of shape.

  • Fiber orientation: in glass-filled materials, fibers align with the flow and make shrinkage different along and across the flow.

  • Wall thickness changes: thick and thin areas shrink by different amounts.

  • Gate position and packing: areas far from the gate get less packing pressure and shrink more.

  • Material and process settings: melt and mold temperature, packing time and pressure all change how much and where the part shrinks.

How we find it

We simulate filling, packing, cooling and warpage of your part with your material and your machine. The result shows how much the part deforms and which cause drives it: cooling, orientation or differential shrinkage. We then compare options side by side and recommend the one that fixes it with the least change to the tool.
